It depends on your case. The implant itself is placed in one visit, but the healing period before the final tooth is fitted commonly takes a few months. Your dentist will give you a timeline at your consultation.
The area is numbed with local anaesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some soreness and swelling afterwards is normal and is managed with the advice and medication your dentist gives you.
